GE 히타치 뉴클리어에너지(GEH)는 캐나다의 온타리오주전력(OPG, Ontario Power Generation) 다린튼 원자력발전 소용으로 BWRX-300을 수주했다고 한다. 양사는 앞으로, SMR의 건설을 위한 설계와 엔지니어링과 계획 수립, 인허가 수 속의 준비 등에서 협력하여 OPG는 2022년 봄에 건설공사에 필요한 서비스 업무수행, 등 사이트의 준비작업을 착수하여, 2022년 말까지 캐나다 원자력안전위원회(CNSC)에 건설허가신청을 목표로 하고 있다.

 

빠르면 2028년에, 캐나다에서 최초가 되는 상업용의 SMR 건설을 완료할 계획이다. 일부 보도에 의하면, 수주액은 약 3,000 억 엔으로 보여지고 있다.

 

EU에서 원자력발전을 그린에너지로 인정하는 등 앞으로 SMR이 탄소배출량 감축을 위한 에너지원으로 기여할것으로 예 상되어 급속한 시장 성장이 기대된다.
