Black & Veatch는 미국 미쓰비시파워와 Magnum Development가 공동개발하는 세계 최대 공업용 그린 수소의 제조 및 저장시설인 Advanced Clean Energy Storage 프로젝트의 EPC 업무를 수주하였다.

이 플랜트는 미국 유타 주 델타에 건설되는 것으로, 220MW 재생가능에너지로부터 하루 100톤의 수 소를 제조, 저장한다. 미쓰비시파워는 220MW의 전해조, 가스분리기, 정류기중 전력 변압기, 분산제어시스템 등의 수소기기 공급과 설비 Integration을 담당한다.

Black & Veatch는 베트남의 재생가능에너지 개발자인 The Green Solutions(TGS)와 그린 수소 및 그린 암모니아의 생산을 촉진하기 위한 MOU를 체결하고 18만 t/y의 그린암모니아와 3만 t/y의 그린수소 생산을 목표로 하는 사업에 대한 검토업무를 시작한다.

Black & Veatch has been selected by a joint venture of Mitsubishi Power Americas and Magnum Development to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the 220MW Advanced Clean Energy Storage project in Delta, Utah.

The hub will initially be designed to convert renewable energy daily to 100 tonnes of green hydrogen that will be stored in two salt caverns.

Mitsubishi Power will provide the hydrogen equipment integration, including the 220MW of electrolyzers, gas separators, rectifiers, medium-voltage transformers and distributed control system.

The JV's president of advanced clean energy storage and chief operating officer Michael Ducker said: "Together with our innovative partners, Mitsubishi Power and Magnum Development are creating the world’s first and largest industrial green hydrogen hub.

Construction started this spring, the hydrogen storage hub will be adjacent to the Intermountain Power Agency’s IPP Renewed Project and support that 840MW, hydrogen-capable gas turbine combined cycle power plant under construction.

That plant initially will run on a blend of 30% green hydrogen and 70% natural gas starting in 2025 and the plant incrementally will expand to using 100% hydrogen by 2045.

SINGAPORE--(Business Wire / Korea Newswire) April 05, 2022 -- Black & Veatch and The Green Solutions (TGS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the production and supply of green hydrogen and green ammonia in Vietnam.

Specializing in renewable energy project development, manufacturing and services, TGS leads efforts to harness green energy in Vietnam for the manufacture of green hydrogen and green ammonia. Black & Veatch, a global leader in hydrogen energy development, brings its vast expertise in clean energy technologies and ammonia processing to the project team.

Hydrogen can be used for power generation, energy storage and advanced transportation solutions. While ammonia, which can be liquified for storage and shipment globally, can be used in multiple energy-intensive industries to produce electricity or other green chemicals. Under the MoU, Black & Veatch and TGS are targeting to produce 180,000 tons of green ammonia and 30,000 tons of green hydrogen per year to support regional decarbonization efforts.

TGS has appointed Black & Veatch to study the production and storage of green hydrogen in Vietnam utilizing solar or wind power supplied through the grid. The study also includes development of a green ammonia production plant as well as plant configuration and technology review, technology evolution risk and tentative mitigation, conceptual design, order of magnitude cost estimates, and levelized cost calculations. Augustus Global Investments will provide the initial development funding for the project.

The MoU responds to Asia’s optimism for green fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia. According to Black & Veatch’s 2022 Asia Electric Report, 73 percent of respondents believe that hydrogen will help meet carbon emissions goals beyond 10 years from now - more than any other technology. In addition, the report also reveals that 46 percent think it will take off as a clean and affordable alternative to gas generation by 2030.
